Top Surgery

What FTMs call "top surgery" is the refashioning of the female breasts to a more male-appearing chest. The procedure is almost never covered by any health insurance, so we must scrimp, save, and charge to afford the surgery, which runs from about $5-10 grand. There also aren't quite a lot of surgeons who will perform this type of procedure, so many transmen must travel to reach their chosen surgeon.

This procedure does require a letter from a psych professional as well.

Personally, I went to Dr Melissa Johnson out of Springfield, Massachusetts. Luckily my mother lives a few towns over, and so I didn't incur any travel expenses beyond giving my mom some money for gas. I cannot recommend Dr Johnson or her staff enough. They are absolutely wonderful, caring, and beyond competent.
